What is VSCYPAA?

The Virginia State Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (VSCYPAA) is a service body made up of Alcoholics Anonymous members from across the Commonwealth of Virginia who desire to carry the message of AA in accordance with the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts of World Service.

Our primary purpose is to support and grow the fellowship of young people in Alcoholics Anonymous by raising awareness, fostering connection, and hosting the annual VSCYPAA conference in different regions throughout the state. VSCYPAA operates as one unified service body that includes bid committees, host committees, and the VSCYPAA Advisory Council, all working together to carry out the conference and to ensure the continuity and integrity of VSCYPAA for years to come.

VSCYPAA also supports and encourages YPAA communities beyond Virginia, across state and national lines. To learn more about the origins of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous, visit the International Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (ICYPAA) at https://www.icypaa.org/about-icypaa.

In all of our efforts, we strive to practice AA’s Three Legacies of Recovery, Unity, and Service.

Our mission is to encourage Alcoholics Anonymous groups and service bodies to welcome and include more young people in their fellowships and service structures.

VSCYPAA provides opportunities for connection, service, and fun among young people in recovery —

because we are not a glum lot.
